I hadn’t realized what breastfeeding could do for me as a mother: a study found that “women who breastfeed for more than eight weeks are more relaxed, have a higher tolerance to monotony, and score higher on a socialization index” (from Hale and Hartman, Textbook of Human Lactation, p. 150).
Unexpected side effects…

This was really interesting to me and made me wonder a little bit how they carried out their study. I wondered if the test really showed the outcome of breastfeeding or if it showed more about the type of women likely to breastfeed. Either way, it’s pretty nifty!
